Add 24 hours to the ending clock time before subtracting the start time.
Overnight elapsed minutes = (end minutes + 1,440) − start minutes
Example
10:00 PM to 6:00 AM is 8 elapsed hours. With a 30-minute unpaid break, paid time is 7.5 hours.
